Grandmaster DJ Royal (Roy Furr) has been playing various forms of house and breakbeat music for nearly a decade.
He started DJing in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska — playing for years in local clubs and at many different sized parties. Now he’s moved to the Eugene and Springfield, Oregon area where he’s just starting to get involved with the local music scene.
Royal’s current style is a funky blend of house, breakbeat, big beat, and pop music mash-ups — it’s a completely new and unique dance music genre he calls “Big Beat Bastard Pop.”
Royal picks his music much like many of the most critically-acclaimed DJs through the history of dance music. The only rule he uses is:
“If it makes me dance, I’ll play it.”
Lucky attendees of Royal’s performances usually leave sweat-soaked, hoping to see more soon. If you were to catch a show attendee as they were leaving and ask them what they thought, you’d probably hear:
“Nice show! I haven’t ever seen that level of energy and enthusiasm — it’s completely infectious!”
Now Royal has decided to bring that energy and enthusiasm to the internet. He’s using this website to make his live DJ mixes available for free download, for promotional purposes.
Royal’s mixes are available for free download from http://www.GrandmasterDJRoyal.com, no registration required. You can also submit your name and email address to be notified of new mixes by email.
